Death City houses the famed Death Weapon Meister Academy. This is a technical school headed by Lord Death, the Shinigami. The academy's goal is to create "Death Scythes", which the Shinigami can use to fight the evils in their world. The Death Scythes aren't made of physical weapons, but from hybrids that can transform into Demon Weapons after consuming the souls from 99 evil creatures and one witch. Maka Albarn, the straight-laced meister of Soul Eater Evans a Demon Scythe that only cares about cool things, wants to help him become a Death Scythe. They study and work alongside BlackStar, a hot-headed Shinigami, and Tsubaki his loving weapon. Death the Kid is also a dual pistol wielder who has an obsession with Patty and Liz. The Soul Eater series follows the students as they embark on missions in order to protect Shibusen from threats and collect souls. They also work together to improve their mind, body and soul.
